Accreditation and Endorsement

Accreditation and endorsement are voluntary processes of self-study and external review intended to evaluate, enhance, and publicly recognize quality child life academic and clinical internship programs, promote the best interest of students, and better the child life profession as a whole through continuous quality improvement.

Course Pre-Approval

Pre-approval of courses is a voluntary process by which graduate and undergraduate academic programs can identify which of their course offerings would be accepted towards the 2019 course requirements. The pre-approval process evaluates a program's course(s) utilizing course descriptions, syllabi and other materials to make a determination as to whether or not a specific course fulfills one or more of the 2019 course requirements. If pre-approved, academic programs can provide assurance to their students that their course offerings will meet one or more of the certification (2019) course requirements.

PDU Pre-Approval

Pre-approval of courses, webinars, conferences, and other educational opportunities is a voluntary process by which programs can identify which of their offerings meet ACLP's standards as providing professional development units (PDUs), the measurement of continuing education for the Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) credential. If pre-approved, programs can publicize this pre-approval status to Certified Child Life Specialists looking for continuing education content guaranteed to meet ACLP's recertification requirements.
